FAQ

Farssi.net is an entirely Finnish gaming community founded through roleplaying. We run numerous own servers, some public and some used by community members for their own purposes. Farssi.net/GameHost was established to cover our own community’s server costs. In practice, the operation has already expanded to the point where we run our own services alongside game hosting, and clients enjoy a situation where they mostly pay only the purchase price of the service. We run several thousand individual server processes in our system.
Farssi.net runs its own services from the exact same systems we provide here. You can be sure each service works as well as it possibly can. We trust in our own services, and so do many large Finnish gaming communities. Both large and small communities can run all their services from one place very conveniently through us.

If your community needs a managed platform, you can run your services on a VPS or GameVPS (we often use these for the heaviest games). If you want to focus more on playing or developing your server, you can run most games through our control panel.

All in all, Farssi.net/GameHost is a service made by gamers for gamers. Our aim is not to suck up to you, but to ensure the services function as well as possible.
We use the TCAdmin game server management app for server management. In practice, you’ll find everything you need to run a game server, all in the control panel. The control panel is a website you access via browser, allowing you to directly control your own game server. Your game server works exactly as if you were running it on your own machine or dedicated server. It’s up whenever and however you want. The control panel is designed to make daily management easier.

The control panel includes, for example:
  • FTP access (via client or web browser) to transfer server files.
  • MySQL database and database management.
  • Statistics on your server's player count and resource usage.
  • Automated operations such as updates, restarts, etc.
  • Most popular plugins installable with a single click.
    • In early 2021, Farssi GameHost started with the idea of providing Finnish gamers services using spare server hardware. However, it soon became apparent that other companies in Finland had not succeeded in providing services, especially to larger communities. This caused a surge in visitors and we had to rethink our operations. Currently, Gamehost's ideology is to provide services at cost for Finnish gamers. Our profit margin on these services is basically zero. The main purpose is still to cover our own community's server costs, which currently account for less than one percent of all Gamehost services.

    Since the whole point is to operate at cost, in some games there may be situations where the prepaid server price does not cover costs. For example, if you run Rust with 300 players daily, etc. In these rare cases we'll talk with you and review things per server individually.
    You can share access to your server however you want. You can create a separate sub-user even for the payment panel so someone else can make payments. You can also allow access to use the server itself by creating individual admin accounts. You can set access rights as you wish—it's up to you who to trust and how you want to manage your server.
